Dessi Australian Labradoodle breeding was created out of passion for dogs and the need to have a dog that would be friendly to allergy sufferers and at the same time a great member of the family. Our Australian Labradoodles belong to the group of therapy dogs and are great companions for both adults and children. The Australian Labradoodle is an allergy-friendly dog. Due to very strict rules and strict selection in the organizations associating Australian Labradoodles, the amount of protein in the dogs' epidermis has been minimized, which makes them suitable for people with allergies. This breed is often the last hope for having a dog for allergy sufferers.

History of the breed

Beginnings

The history of the Australian Labradoodle began in 1988 in Australia. It was a response to the emerging demand for a dog that is friendly to allergy sufferers, but at the same time willing to cooperate with people. There was a woman in Hawaii who was losing her sight and needed a guide dog. Unfortunately, her husband was allergic to dog hair and she could not have any known "non-allergenic" dog breeds at home. It was then that Wally Cornen, working for the Australian Working Dogs Association, came up with the idea of ​​crossing a poodle and a Labrador. Three puppies were born, one of which was sent to Hawaii and served as a guide dog for a blind woman. The cross between these dogs was called Labradoodles. Then, the mating of these two breeds was continued in order to obtain dogs from which each puppy would not shed and would be friendly to allergy sufferers. However, during one of the interviews in Readers Digest, Wally Conron admitted that despite intensive training, most of the dogs bred had a difficult character (stubborn), so he stopped continuing his breeding program. However, people loved the Labradoodle and there was no going back. The popularity of this dog breed was increasing day by day.

Mother and Daughter

Beverly Menners and Angela Cunningham Two Australian breeders, Beverly Menners (Rutland Manor) and her daughter Angela Cunningham Angela RUtland Manners (Tegan Park) decided to take over the work on the development of Labradoodle. Mother and daughter wanted to create a breed of dogs that had specific criteria. The dog was supposed to not cause allergic reactions, be easy to train, be an assistance dog, and be a family dog. The breeders decided to infuse other dog breeds, so the following were added: Poodle (all sizes), Irish Water Spaniel, American Cocer Spaniel, English Cocer Spaniel, Labrador. This resulted in a variety of colors and tempered the difficult character. The size of the dogs was thus reduced. After all infusions, both ladies used only the best representatives of the breed for breeding.

Established breed

Organizations associating Australian Labradoodles These organizations believe that the Australian Labradoodle is a cross between three breeds: Poodle, Labrador Retriever, Cocker Spaniel. Unfortunately, in this case, the allergy-friendly fur of all these "Australian Labradoodles" probably cannot be a guarantee. In 2009, these organizations not only allowed first matings (Labrador + Poodle) or infusions with Cocker Spaniels, but also noticed shedding puppies and allowed their use for further breeding. These new breeding programs will have far-reaching consequences. Due to the huge and constantly growing popularity of the Australian Labradoodle, many pseudo-breeders started "producing" puppies on a mass scale. Unfortunately, customers who want to buy an Australian Labradoodle do not know whether these individuals have the appropriate pedigrees and characteristics typical of Australian Labradoodles. Pseudo breeders also cleverly raise the rank of their bred "Labradoodles" (F1 - the simplest cross between a Labrador and a Poodle) by associating them with individuals (Australian Labradoodles) with very good, prestigious pedigrees.
